Owner - Brittany Gates
Brittany Gates was born and raised in Beaufort, South Carolina, and later moved to Aiken, SC, where she currently resides. She is an instructor and choreographer and is the founder of Velocity Choreography & Dance Education LLC in Aiken, South Carolina.
Velocity is a first-responder–owned dance education company, built on the belief that dance should unite, not divide. Through Velocity, Brittany’s mission is to create meaningful opportunities for dancers through education, creativity, and high-quality choreography.
At the heart of Velocity is community, growth, and discipline. Brittany trains dancers at Velocity’s Aiken location in a close-knit, supportive environment focused on strong technique, performance quality, and artistic development. Velocity also welcomes guest choreographers to teach and collaborate, expanding dancers’ exposure to diverse styles and perspectives.
Brittany grew up dancing competitively at local studios in Beaufort, SC, and is an award-winning overall soloist throughout the Southeast. In 2007, she was named Creative Runway Winner at the Savannah, GA American Modeling and Talent Convention. Her professional career began in 2002, performing in musicals and commercial projects through the Millie Lewis Savannah Model and Talent Agency.
In 2017, Brittany founded her high school’s dance team, earning recognition as a triple threat—excelling in dance, cheerleading, and performing as a bass player in the Code Blue Drumline.
Beyond dance, Brittany serves as an EMT with Aiken EMS, providing pre-hospital care in emergency and traumatic situations. Her dedication to helping others in critical moments mirrors her passion for inspiring dancers through movement. She specializes in all genres, with a strong focus on quality of movement, technique, performance, and storytelling.
Director of Operations
Nicole Gates is a dedicated professional with over 30 years of experience as a Certified Registered Nurse, bringing compassion, organization, and care into everything she does. She is also the proud mother of Brittany Gates and has been an active and supportive dance mom for more than 20 years, gaining firsthand knowledge of the dedication, structure, and heart behind the dance world.
Through decades of involvement in dance studios, competitions, and performances, Nicole has developed a deep understanding of the needs of dancers and their families. Her extensive healthcare background reflects her strong commitment to responsibility, communication, and supporting others—qualities that translate seamlessly into her role at Velocity.
Nicole’s long-standing experience, nurturing nature, and behind-the-scenes support make her an invaluable part of the Velocity family, helping ensure a positive, organized, and welcoming environment for dancers and parents alike.
